When You Wake up Feeling Old

Whirl singing :)

Can’t Be Satisfied

and another from last week

Since I’ve Laid My Burden Down

Just a couple of recordings for ya.

What a week!

Inga Wind Clothing

It all began on Wednesday evening…Whirl and I went to see Ziffy and BlindBoink play at the Tuscan Sun, at a new club they just opened for acoustic performances. It’s really a nice place, and is run by two great people Seabreeze and Pajoel. So, Blind is on stage and he announces, hey you should book Whirl and Bart to play here…so almost immediately I get am IM from Pajoel and next thing I know we are scheduled to play the very next day on Thursday right after Senjata Whitt (Another really awesome musician).

So we head over on Thursday to play, next thing I know all of our friends are there, but also almost every musician that we know shows up. Well we are totally humbled. Thank you so much Blindboink and also Pajoel for letting us play at your wonderful club. We will be back there every Weds night following Blindboink and Ziffy.

Friday evening we normally play Cair Paravel, but this was a special day. Yes we know it would have been Elvis Preseley’s 75th birthday, but more importantly it was Derek Sienkowitz’s RL birthday and so we headed over to Inga Wind’s store to play.

It was here we learned with sadness that Inga’s father had passed away.

We played for about an hour to a small crowd, but a fun crowd

Saturday we play at Guthrie’s in the morning, the number of people was pretty good for us.

We also played on Saturday night at Cookie Farm, great turnout and we even got Whirl to sing a new song.

Thank’s to all of you who come out and support not just us, but all the musicians in Second Life. Its funny but true, the more there are of you…the happier it makes us feel and that translates to a better show..no kidding..you do make the difference :)

See you next week

Thanksgiving and Whirl’s Birthday

Whirl's BirthdayThanks y’all for coming out to one or more of our performances. And especially for coming to whirligig’s RL birthday celebration.

The fun began on Friday evening at the Gaslight at 6 PM SL (SL is the same as Pacific TIme), there were so many friends and new folks there. You are all really great folks.

Saturday we played first at the Cookie Farm at 5 PM SL, our first appearance there since October. This was our first regular gig in SL and we do enjoy playing there. Thinkerer Melville has alway been so helpful to us, and we appreciate the opportunity to play there as well.

Late on Saturday we played at Woodstock, around 11 PM SL time, we had lots of folks come to hear us, even met some of the hobos that we do not know (since we are never up that late).

Then on Sunday Arman Finesmith played for whirligig’s Birthday celebration at 6 PM SL in Cair Paravel. We played lots of the songs we really like. Arman is such a fine musician that he is just a joy to listen to. If you haven’t heard him, he keeps a list of his next performances in his profile. Check it out, you will love it.

The celebration for whirl continues tonight, when Blindboink Parham comes to Cair Paravel to play for whirl’s birthday as well, because of the holiday Blindboink could not come on Sunday, and I am glad we were able to get him booked, as he is another very fine musician. So come out tonight (12/1/09) at 6 PM SL to Cair Paravel.

Sunday Tittertat’s House Warming

Inga Live

Inga sings and whirl watches amazed!

Sunday Whirl and I played for an hour at Tittertat’s House warming party on her new land. So many hobo’s we have not seen in I do not know how long turned out for the party, was so good to see old friends again, as well as meet new friends :)

Grace McDunnough played a set after us, she is great and we always enjoy hearing her.

Happy House Warming, Titter! Are you sure we can’t burn the house now?

Buddy Guy

Buddy Guy

Buddy Guy

Whirligig and I went to the House of Blues in Dallas last night to hear Buddy Guy. Moreland and Arbuckle a band from Kansas were the opening act and they belted out some of the best original blues I have heard for sometime. Aaron Moreland played from an arsenal of guitars, including a box guitar while Dustin Arbuckle sang and played the harmonica. The cigarbox guitar has a single bass string similar to a banjo but the other strings are guitar strings, so it can fill in for a bass nicely.

Buddy Guy came on stage next playing quite a few songs from his latest CD “Skin Deep”. He is a great showman and can work a crowd like no one else. His vocals were spot on and powerful and his guitar playing is as good as it ever was, maybe better.

Our seats were in the balcony and at one point in the show Buddy walked from the stage and came up into the center aisle of the balcony still playing the whole time. A miracle of wireless guitar and microphones.

A nice touch. Was the first time I had ever heard him play and I hope not the last.

Progress

peet@cookie

Peet @ Home Cooked Music!

Been installing just a few applications on the server, and sadly the TonePort from Line6 has already failed. By failed I mean the presence of audio noise; a clicking appearing at random times.

I am not sure when it happened but it was either after installing the native instrument drivers or when I plugged the mixer back into the FireWire port.

I will try and isolate it tonight, it’s not that I use the toneport that much but the whole purpose of this rebuild was to try and eliminate the noise sources. As much as I could.

One bright note the noise floor has dropped and our audio signal was so loud last night it was actually tripping the feedback protection circuit which I had never seen happen before.

So much to learn….but it is fun

Big Thank You

bart1We had another great weekend, performing at 5PM SL on Hobo Island and again at 7PM SL on Cookie.

A big thank you to all of you who came out on Saturday for the hobo island benefit. We will do more of these performances. Watch our calendar for more details.

We had a great time playing our second set on Cookie, and Punky even wrote some lyrics for the “Hobo Lullaby” to include some names of some of the hobos. And she wants to make this song sort of a collaborative effort to get other folks to add some verses as well. Sound like a great idea to me.

On Sunday, I tore the audio server completely down, eradicating all of audio drivers left over from trying out so many different audio editors. I am happy to report the machine is running almost 2X faster and I have left out most of the larger applications.

I will begin testing and checking out the system this week to work out any kinks or configuration issues before our next performance.
